  1. Component Toolbox OCX 1.0 Demo

  3. Installation and General Notes

  5. Thank you for taking the time to download and review the Component Toolbox
  6. OCX. This is our pre-release version. The pre-release version contains 25
  7. controls. The final version should contain well over 30 controls. The
  8. controls in this demo have currently been tested with VB4, PowerBuilder
  9. 5.0, and Delphi 32. We are aware of a few different bugs, but these are
  10. quickly being dealt with. The demo controls here are fully functional in
  11. a design mode, but they will not work in a compiled VB EXE file.

  14. Running The Demo

  16. 1. Unzip the files into a directory of your choosing.
  17.  
  18. 2. In DOS mode, run the file .. CTREGOCX.BAT. This batch file will
  19. register all the OCX controls. If you want to remove the controls from
  20. the registry, you can use the CT_UNREG.BAT file.

  22. 3. Start up Visual Basic 4.0. Then load and run CTDEMO.VBP
  23.

  25.     As a quick note, you should have all the necessary run-time
  26.         files required to run this demo if you already have VB4. One of
  27.         the files necessary is OC30.DLL. There are a few others as well.
  28.         If you are attempting to run this demo, and it's missing files,
  29.         plese let us know. As we said, this is just the pre-release
  30.         version, and we have a few things to work out.

  33. Future Controls
  34.  
  35.     There are five controls we have yet to convert to the OCX format.
  36.         There include a form effects, menu notification, re-size, tree list,
  37.         and virtual list box control. As well, we are still making some
  38.         enhancements to our existing controls. 16 bit versions, and an
  39.         online help file are also soon to follow.

  41.     Plans for new controls include a much more advanced calendar that
  42.         will support multiple selections, and individual bitmaps, text,
  43.         and colors for each date. A year at a time calendar. A spiral
  44.         notebook tab control, a calculator control, and some other smaller
  45.         controls.

  47.     If you order the Component Toolbox OCX from us, we will continue to
  48.         send you monthly updates until the product is done. At that time,
  49.         we will also send you the completed manual. If you order thru
  50.         CompuServe, all updates will be sent electronically (Kind of like
  51.         an OCX of the month club),. The manual will still be sent when the
  52.         product is completed.

  54.     Finally, if you have any ideas for controls, let us know. While an
  55.         advanced grid control may be too complex to include, ideas for
  56.         smaller controls, or improvements to existing controls are always
  57.         welcome.

  60. Ordering the Product.

  62.     The Component Toolbox OCX will list for $159.00. However, we have a
  63.         special offer on right now for $120.00 (plus shipping). The product
  64.         can be ordered directly from us, or thru the CompuServe SWREG #8405

  66.     Many people are asking for both the VBX versions and the OCX
  67.         versions of the controls. ( The VBX package is Compatible with VB3
  68.         and Delphi) This package will list for $199.00, but can be ordered
  69.         directly from us for $160.00 (plus shipping). It should be noted
  70.         that we do not necessarily plan to continue to create VBX versions
  71.         of our new controls. However, the current VBX toolbox does contain
  72.         thirty of the controls. The joint package ( at this price ), is
  73.         currently only available directly thru us. There is no CompuServe
  74.         registration number for it. People who order the joint package will
  75.         recieve manuals for both versions of the product. The VBX version
  76.         can be shipped now, and the OCX when the entire product is finished.
  77.         If you order the joint package, make sure you mention that in your
  78.         order so that we send you the right items.
